Create and edit the design of a ticket template in the Ticket Builder. To open an existing template or create a new one, see Tickets overview.
Ticket Builder layout
The Ticket Builder is a visual editor for ticket templates. It usually opens in a new pop-up window.
It has three areas:
- Artboard in the center, where you build the ticket template.
- Toolbox panel on the left, with available tools and element options.
- Overview panel on the right, with global actions plus artboard and print settings.
When you select one or more elements of the same type, their settings inspector appears in the Toolbox panel below the available tools. If you select elements of different types, their settings are not shown.
Set the ticket size
Ticket templates use millimetres (mm). Configure the artboard to match the size of your physical ticket template.
Add elements from the Toolbox
The Toolbox contains these elements:
- Text
- Barcode
- Image
To add an element, drag it from the Toolbox onto the artboard.
Add text
A text element is a dynamic placeholder that fills with information from your scheduled event.
Configure these settings:
- Text type: choose a dynamic placeholder or custom text.
- Prefix: text to show before the dynamic value.
- Suffix: text to show after the dynamic value.
- Alignment: alignment of the value within its placeholder container.
- Text size: font size in pt.
- Text color
- Background color
- Size: the width and height of the placeholder container, not the text itself.
- Text direction: horizontal or vertical.
- Rotation: from 0 to 360 degrees.
Choose from these dynamic placeholders:
| Dynamic placeholder | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Ticket number | The ticket number in AAAA-BBBB-CCCC-D format. |
| Customer name | The name attached to the booking. |
| Sector | The seat's sector. |
| Reserved seats | A combined string of the row and seats. |
| Row only | The row, for seating charts. |
| Seats only | The seat number for seating charts, or the seat count for custom ticket categories or seating-chart regions. |
| Event title | The event title. |
| Date | The event start date. A further dropdown lets you choose the date format. |
| Time | The event start time. |
| Ticket price | The ticket price. |
| Location - place name | The place name defined in the event location. |
| Location - stage name | The stage name defined in the event location. |
| Location - address | The address defined in the event location. |
| Location - city | The city defined in the event location. |
| Location - state | The state defined in the event location. |
| Location - country | The country defined in the event location. |
| Location - coordinates | The coordinates defined in the event location. |
| Custom text | Text you enter instead of a placeholder. |
Dynamic placeholders show sample preview text in the builder. This lets you assess the overall template layout before you use it with real events, where the sample text is replaced with event and booking data.
Most preview values are intentionally long. Leave sufficient space and margins around elements to avoid unexpected layout issues when ticketing starts.
Common tickets
When you issue common tickets from a seating chart, seats are grouped by sector and row, with a maximum of 10 seats per ticket.
When you issue common tickets without a seating chart, seats are grouped by sector only, with no maximum number of seats per ticket.
Add a barcode
Add a barcode element to use the ticket validation tool. Choose one of these barcode types:
- QR Code: the default option, a commonly used modern 2D matrix barcode.
- 1D Code: a legacy linear barcode.
Configure these settings:
- Size: in millimetres.
- Rotation: from 0 to 360 degrees.
Add an image
Use an image element to add visual content to the ticket.
The image element supports URL links only. Host the image outside Entase, then enter its URL in the builder.
Configure these settings:
- URL: the image URL address.
- Size: in millimetres.
Work on the Artboard
The white centre area is the Artboard, surrounded by grey space. Keep every element you want to show within the white artboard borders. Anything outside the Artboard is truncated and will not appear in print or PDF generation.
Move elements
Select one or more elements, then move them by either:
- Holding the left mouse button and dragging.
- Using the keyboard arrow keys for finer placement.
Use alignment guides
As you move elements, blue horizontal or vertical lines appear when your selection intersects another element's horizontal or vertical edge. These are alignment guides.
Use the guides to fine-tune placement. For especially precise adjustments, use the keyboard arrow keys as well.
Delete elements
Select the elements you want to remove, then either:
- Press the Delete key on your keyboard.
- Click Delete selected in the settings inspector.
If your selection contains multiple element types, the settings inspector is not visible. In that case, use the Delete key or select only elements of the same type.
Use the Overview panel
The Overview panel on the right contains general information and settings for the ticket template.
Undo and redo changes
Use Undo and Redo to move backward or forward through your changes. You can also use these operating-system shortcuts:
- Windows:
Ctrl + Zto undo,Ctrl + Yto redo. - macOS:
Cmd + Zto undo,Cmd + Shift + Zto redo.
Configure print settings
Set the following print options:
- Paper size: enter the physical ticket template size in millimetres.
- Print view: choose portrait or landscape.
- Print margins: set the left and top margins to add during printing.
Check the print preview
Click Print preview to test the ticket print.
Save the ticket template
When the template is ready, enter its name and click Save changes in the top-right corner. The template then appears on the Tickets page.
Considerations
- Each event has its own copy of the ticket templates configured for it. Changing or deleting a template does not affect events that already use it. To apply changes to an existing event, perform a full or partial edit of the event.
- You can delete ticket templates at any time. Existing events keep their own copies and continue selling as usual. To cancel an event, see Canceling an event.
